Preamble
We the People of the United States, born equal and independent, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare protect property, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, and acknowledging that the proper function of government is to protect the freedom of individuals from the initiation of force, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
